Where Does It All Go?
It's not your salary that makes you rich, it's your spending habits. ~ Charles Jaffee
So now that you know what you want to do, what are you actually doing? This is a difficult question. We all believe that we are more disciplined that we really are. The best way to see the truth is to see how you actually spend your money...especially as it compares to your spending plan (budget). And the best way to do that is to keep a spending journal.
Any small notebook will work. You can also track it on our computer or smart phone. Just make sure you use a tool that you can keep with you at all times. And then write down everything you spend. Similar to the time journal, you need to keep this for at least a week, preferably a month so you can really know where your money is going. A helpful tool for this is: E-Spending Diary
